Qasida al-Burda & Hadra
Gatherings of Remembrance
A fortnightly open gathering of spiritual upliftment which opens with a recitation of Imam Busiri’s Qasida al-Burda led by The Keighley Munshids followed by a Hadra in the tradition of the Shadhili Darqawi Hashimi Order.
At the conclusion of the Hadra there is a short, ten-minute, recorded reminder by Shaykh Nuh Ha Mim Keller.
This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a centuries-old tradition of sending blessings and peace on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), thus increasing one’s love and strengthening the connection with him.
And to experience the hadra or “public dhikr” as it has been traditionally practiced by generations of Shadhilis in North Africa under such sheikhs as al-‘Arabi al-Darqawi, Muhammad al-Buzidi, and Ahmad al-‘Alawi before being brought to Damascus from Algeria by Muhammad ibn Yallis and Muhammad al-Hashimi at the beginning of this century.
Open to men and women
[Children are welcome but must be able to sit quietly without any disruption to the gathering]
