Refurbishment Fund

Over the last 15 years, the Foundation has been instrumental in providing religious guidance to our communities in the Yorkshire region allowing children and adults to access traditional learning in the English language. One of the unique features of our work has been bringing traditionally trained scholars to our communities on a full-time basis.

We have acquired our new premises in April 2011 and are fundraising to fully refurbish the 1890 Victorian church.

Please donate to this unique project and help us to continue this work. Abu Zahra is an independent organisation which relies on generous contributions from people like you.

You can assist by making a lump sum payment or setting up a standing order yourself and encouraging friends and family to do the same.

PHASE 1: Ground Floor Refurbishment Completed

The Ground Floor of this unique educational facility in our community is now open. See completion photographs in by clicking the gallery tab above.

Phase 1 has allowed us to create: Four spacious classrooms, fully equipped with SMART Touchscreens, that also open into a large hall using flexible walling with a backdrop of a curved Glass Wall; set out in high-quality Oak flooring and doors, with stunning bespoke back-lit wooden geometric panels, all fully air-conditioned.

Adjoining are beautifully designed wudu areas with energy saving sensor taps, bespoke aluminium geometric panels, all porcelain tiled with granite splash backs and seats as well as underfloor heating.

It also includes office space, kitchen and a disabled WC.

Please pray that Allah continues to make this place one of learning, and a means to follow the example of the Chosen One (Allah bless him and give him peace).

Total cost of Phase 1 works: £550,000

Short term loans due now: £60,000 of qard-hasana (interest-free loans) – we are raising money to re-pay these loans – please donate generously on-line here.

Long-term loans: £176,000

PHASE 2: Main Prayer Hall and Mezzanine Floor for Ladies

As well as a Main Prayer Hall and Mezzanine floor for the ladies, this will phase will also include creating adjoining wudu facilities for men, a self-contained flat, a meeting room and renovation of the garden space.

Once the outstanding short term loans are paid, we will then begin fundraising for Phase 2 and complete the renovation of this historic building, in sha’ Allah.
