Restoration Fund

Over the last 15 years, the Foundation has been instrumental in providing religious guidance to our communities in the Yorkshire region allowing children and adults to access traditional learning in the English language. One of the unique features of our work has been bringing traditionally trained scholars to our communities on a full-time basis.

We have acquired our new premises in April 2011 and are fundraising to fully refurbish the 1890 Victorian church.

APRIL 2021 – LATEST UPDATE

PHASE 2 COMPLETION: Main Prayer Hall and Ladies’ Mezzanine Floor

Abu Zahra Foundations’s Phase 2 of the restoration project will create a beautiful, serene place of worship and remembrance of Allah Most High for men and women in our community. The main prayer hall requires major modernization as well as the completion of the mezzanine floor which will serve as a ladies’ gallery and additional classroom space.

Overview of restoration work required:

1- Fifty aluminium windows on entire first floor

2- Partition walls creating entrances, wudu area and staircase to mezzanine floor

3- Restoration of existing lights and additional internal and external lighting

4- Install new internal doors and restore external main entrance doors

5- Restore damaged plasterwork

6- New heating system and AC

7- New Fire Exits and external staircase

8- Fit bespoke designed carpet and oak flooring

9- Create new library/meeting Room

10- Painting all areas and restoring wooden side panels

11- Install new men’s wudu area and toilets

12- PA system for the entire premises on three floors

13- Design, manufacture and installation of the feature stained-glass window

This Ramadan, we need another £85,000 to complete Phase 2 and, hence, all internal refurbishment works. Donate online on our Justgiving page HERE

PHASE 1: Ground Floor Restoration Completed

The Ground Floor of this unique educational facility in our community is now open. See completion photographs in by clicking the gallery tab above.

Phase 1 has allowed us to create: Four spacious classrooms, fully equipped with SMART Touchscreens, that also open into a large hall using flexible walling with a backdrop of a curved Glass Wall; set out in high-quality Oak flooring and doors, with stunning bespoke back-lit wooden geometric panels, all fully air-conditioned.

Adjoining are beautifully designed wudu areas with energy saving sensor taps, bespoke aluminium geometric panels, all porcelain tiled with granite splash backs and seats as well as underfloor heating.

It also includes office space, kitchen and a disabled WC.

Total cost of Phase 1 works: £550,000

Loans outstanding: £236,000 which are serviced by the funds raised through our publication arm, Abu Zahra Press.
