STUDENT FUND

It is important for us as a community to facilitate local students of knowledge especially due to the shortage of qualified English speaking scholars. These scholars are then in an ideal position to discharge their duties as imams and teachers in a way that is relevant to our context in the west. Moreover, they have a deep understanding of the needs of our communities.

Abu Zahra Foundation has brought English speaking, traditional scholars to our communities in the Yorkshire region to deliver courses in the essential Islamic Sciences and to teach children, providing sound Islamic Knowledge, rooted in mainstream Sunni scholarship.  

To provide greater continuity to the preservation and dissemination of Religious Knowledge in our communities, and to further our work, we have taken the important step to invest in two students of Knowledge (husband and wife) by supporting their studies abroad. On completion of their studies, inshAllah, they will take on a teaching role with the Foundation.

Alhamdulillah, they have completed five years of study and we will support them for a further three-year period in the Middle East. InshAllah, we hope to have a well-rounded scholar for our communities and a female teacher that will conduct classes for women.

The uniqueness of this endeavour is that all the money that is generated will exclusively support local students and hence have a direct benefit to our communities in our region. 

The fund will be maintained entirely through donations from individuals like yourself who are committed to seeing the preservation of the Sacred Sciences. We can accept all donations including zakat.

Our target for this year is £10 000. Raised £5100 so far this year (2011/12)

GENERAL FUND

Over the last 10 years, the Foundation has been instrumental in providing religious guidance to our communities in the Yorkshire region allowing children and adults to access traditional learning in the English language. One of the unique features of our work has been bringing traditionally trained scholars to our communities on a full-time basis.

Please donate to this unique project and help us to continue this work.  Abu Zahra is an independent organisation which relies on generous contributions from people like you.
