Shaykh Idris Watts accepted Islam in 1998 when studying a four year degree at Leeds University in Arabic Studies. Afterwards, he moved to Fez; Morocco in 2001 to study at the Qarawiyyin University for the next four years, focussing on Arabic Language, studying Ajarumiya, Alfiyah, Lamiyah al-Af'al with the likes of the well renowned Grammarian of Morocco Shaykh Abdel Hayy al-Amrawi. Shaykh Idris also focussed on Maliki Fiqh, studying parts of Ibn Ashir, al-'Asamiyyah, and ar-Risalah with various teachers in the Qarawiyyin. He also learnt from many Shaykhs of the Alawi Darqawi Order throughout Morocco eventually taking bay'ah with the renowned Alawi Darqawi Shaykh of Morocco Shaykh al-Buzidi Bujrafi, my God preserve him.
