Four-year Islamic Studies Programme

For boys and girls aged 11- 12yrs [Years 7 & 8]

Download Road to Scholarship Holidays 2018-19

The Road to Scholarship programme is designed for young students as an introduction to the traditional Islamic Sciences on a part-time basis. It will equip the students with the necessary tools to progress to intermediate and advanced level studies by the time they reach the age of 16.  Taught by our experienced and well qualified teachers Ustadh Hamzah Rasul and Ustadh Sulayman Shahnawaz, learning will be rigorous and intensive while delivered in a relaxed and engaging environment.

The Arabic Language will be a key component of the course throughout the four-years of the programme. The focus is communicative Arabic using the al-Arabiya Lil-Nashi’in textbooks, preparing students to communicate confidently at a basic level in everyday situations. This will provide a solid basis for students who desire to go on to study classical Arabic to access  traditional Islamic texts in the various sciences.

In the first two years, students will also study Fiqh, Aqida, Hadith, Tafsir, Sira, Shamail, and Tajwid with the aid of study books specifically written for the particular age group– complete with explanatory notes, exercises, discussion points, problem solving with real life scenarios etc. ensuring the students are engaging and analysing the texts, making them relevant to their lives.

In the third and fourth years, students will move onto the study of the classical texts in the various Islamic Sciences: Fiqh of Worship: Ascent to Felicity; Aqida: Tahawiyya; Hadith: Nawawi’s Forty Hadith; Fiqh of Halal & Haram: Hadiya al-Alaiyya.

Studies will not be limited to learning information and rules of Arabic grammar and morphology but there will be a ‘practice element’ with a focus on hadith, showing the virtue of acts of worship, akhlaq, birr al-walidayn, truthfulness, tawba – the reason why theses virtues ought to be acquired and thus making it a means of becoming better people.

A strong emphasis on ‘knowing the exemplar’–the Prophet Muhammad– through a study of Sira and Shamail will run throughout the programme. This will allow students to know and hence emulate in detail the life and conduct of the Best of Creation, (Allah bless him and give him peace).

On completion of the course, students will have attained a solid foundation in all of the traditional Islamic Sciences, as well as the Arabic Language; this will be sufficient religious knowledge for them to live their lives as committed Muslims and also teach others. It will also enable those that have the desire, to pursue intermediate and advanced studies in the various Shariah disciplines.

Places are limited on the course so register your child as early as possible.
